Winter Farm Update

You get a baby, and you get a baby, everybody gets a baby.

Breeding season started off ruff with the first round of ai not taking on Buttercup, but thankfully round two took, so we are now expecting a new little calf. After looking at all our options, we decided to go with dexter straw. So come September 22, we should have a new mini milker.

We also bred all 4 of our Nigerian dwarf does, and 3 of them took this round. We mated Tilly and Athena to Dexter, so they will be kidding mid-April. Lily and Freya were both put with our newest buck Ragnar. Lily is due from late April to early May, but Freya didn’t take this round. She will spend the next month with Ragnar, which would give her a kidding date of late June if she takes.

Our two newest Mangaliseta / AGH cross sows are currently in with a Kune Kune boar that we rented for the month, so fingers crossed we should have piglets come early June.

Last but not least, after a two-month break from breeding, we finally rebred all our rabbits. So hopefully, next month we will have a bunch of little kits hopping around.

Spring can’t come soon enough!!
