Welcome to Donnelly Family Farm.

My name is Crystal and I’m a farmer. I never thought I would say that. Growing up I always thought of myself as the city-bound rebel. You know the type, wild, punky colored hair, and lover of all things nightlife. I even became a vegetarian just to be different from my family of cattle ranchers. Life is funny that way, you can think you’re one thing, until everything changes and your not.

In 2018 I decided to sell our suburban home on a whim. I’m lucky enough to have a husband that supports me and all my crazy ideas, even when it involves dragging along two angry teenagers. Our house sold quickly but we were having a hard time finding what we wanted next. We looked at houses with attached businesses, multi family homes, and even an eight room bed and breakfast, but nothing felt right. Just when we started to get desperate, five useable acres in beautiful El Dorado county came up for sale. More land than we were looking for, and the house was a disaster. But even with the scary amount of work the house needed it just felt right, so after only 6 hours on the market we bought our forever home. Within days of moving in, we started on renovations and purchasing livestock, and that’s I became a farmer.

Welcome to my new life! I plan to share stories from my adventures in animal husbandry. Updates on all our many renovation projects. Tips for starting a garden and picking the best produce. Products we have available. I hope you stick around, and if your so inclined, leave a comment.
