Greenhouse Update

If you follow us on any social media platform, I’m sure you are getting sick of greenhouse updates. Sorry not sorry, but this is the biggest project we have ever taken on, and I can’t help but constantly talk about it.

So far, we have replaced all of the 16 ft redwood beams on the back wall because they were completely rotted. We then hired a company to do new clear corrugated polycarbonate panels on the roof because my husband vetoed me climbing up there to do it myself. He said, "that he feared for my safety”, but I'm pretty sure given the chance I could have done it.

I spent a year refinishing hundreds of antique wood windows. We recaulked and repainted each one and then put them together to make them the exact width to fit in each column. Then we used redwood to frame each of the windows and put weatherproofing tape on the seems.

Next, we are ordering custom-cut windows for the small gap at the top of each wall. We are doing trim along the outside of each window to give it a cleaner look. A gutter company is coming out to install a new 60-foot gutter with downspouts. Then we are starting demolition on the last remaining wall and installing the final windows. Our goal is to have it all complete by mid-January.
